Example

A morning with AskCatcher

Ana runs an invoicing app. Here's her Tuesday.

Ana is a made-up example — but this is exactly what your mornings look like as a subscriber.

07:00
An email lands in her inbox
Ana's daily AskCatcher email lists 10 fresh posts where people are asking for an invoicing tool — ranked best first.
07:04
She copies a suggested reply
The best post already has a draft reply. She tweaks one sentence so it sounds like her.
07:06
She posts it — and gets found
She posts the reply from her own account. The person asking checks out her app: a new customer found her.

How it works

Three steps, five minutes

01

Tell us what you sell
Describe your product in a couple of sentences. AskCatcher suggests the words and phrases worth watching — you can edit the list anytime.

02

We search every day
AskCatcher scans Hacker News and X daily for people asking for something like your product — questions like “any tool that…” or “alternative to…”.

03

You get the 10 best by email
One morning email with the 10 most promising posts and a suggested reply for each. You decide what to post — we never post for you.

What you get

Strong matchExample post · Hacker News
“Is there a cheap tool that turns a Google Form into a proper client intake page? Typeform is too expensive for us.”
Someone is asking for a tool, today, with a budget complaint about a competitor. That's a customer waiting to hear about you.
Suggested replyExample — you edit and post it yourself

Tally or Formbricks might cover the basics. I build FormKit Pro, which does exactly this for about half the usual price — happy to answer questions, and no worries if it's not a fit. (For transparency: it's my product.)

Helpful first, honest about who you are, never pushy — and posted from your own account, by you.

Where we look

Sources, done honestly

We only use each site's official, permitted access — no scraping, no tricks — so AskCatcher won't vanish overnight the way scraping-based tools do.

Hacker News Live
The forum where technical founders ask “what do you use for…?” every single day. We watch both stories and comments.
X (Twitter) Live
Searched through X's official paid access, read-only. We never post, reply, or send messages on X — we only read.
Reddit Coming later
Reddit asks companies for written permission first. We've requested it and will add Reddit the moment we're approved — not a day earlier, and never by scraping.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does AskCatcher post or reply for me?

Never. AskCatcher drafts a suggested reply, but you review it and post it yourself from your own account. Automatic posting gets accounts banned and annoys communities — we don't do it, on purpose.

Which sites do you watch?

Hacker News and X (Twitter). Reddit is coming later: we'll only add it once Reddit gives us a commercial licence for its data — no scraping, no workarounds.

Why isn't Reddit included yet?

Reddit requires written permission before its posts can be used in a paid product. GummySearch shut down over exactly this. We've asked for permission and will add Reddit the moment we have it — honestly, not before.

How do you pick the 10 best posts?

We look at how clearly someone is asking for a tool like yours, how fresh the post is, and how busy the conversation is. AI helps rank the posts and drafts each suggested reply — and you always review before anything is posted.

What happens during the free trial?

You get the full product for 7 days: the daily email, the dashboard, and suggested replies. A card is required to start (it keeps spammers out), but you're not charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel in one click.

Is this GDPR compliant?

We only look at public posts, keep their text for at most 30 days (after that only the link and ranking), and never build profiles of the people who posted. See our privacy policy for details.
