GummySearch alternative
A GummySearch alternative for finding people who ask for your product
GummySearch is closing for good on 1 December 2026, and all its user data will be deleted that day. If you used it to find people looking for a product like yours, AskCatcher can help with part of that job, on Hacker News and X.
What happened to GummySearch
GummySearch stopped new signups and payments on 30 November 2025 after it couldn't get a commercial licence for Reddit's Data API. Existing paid customers keep access until their billing period ends, and the service shuts down completely on 1 December 2026. If you still have an account, download any data you want to keep before then.
What AskCatcher does
- • Every morning, one email.
- • Inside: public Hacker News and X posts where someone is asking for a product like yours.
- • For each post, a suggested reply you can edit.
- • You post it yourself. Nothing is ever posted for you.
What AskCatcher does not do (yet)
Let's be clear so you don't waste a trial:
- • No Reddit yet. It's planned, but not live today. If Reddit was your main reason for using GummySearch, AskCatcher won't replace that right now.
- • No audience research features like browsing subreddits, themes or pain-point reports.
- • Not real-time. It's a daily email.
Who it's a good fit for
- • Founders and indie makers whose buyers hang out on Hacker News or X.
- • People who want a short list to act on, not a dashboard to dig through.
- • Anyone who prefers to write their own replies.
